The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis is home to one of the most important collections of Dutch paintings of the Golden Age in the world. All this in the beautiful setting of Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen’s seventeenth-century house of in the heart of The Hague. Masterpieces such as the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer and The Young Bull by Potter are on display in the intimate spaces of the museum. More than 250 top works by Dutch and Flemish masters are at home in the classical interior which, with its silk wall covering, sparkling chandeliers and monumental ceiling paintings, exudes the warm atmosphere of a private home.
The Mauritshuis is committed to providing the very best educational facilities for all of its visitors. The museum has a long tradition of providing innovative educational activities for children. For these activities it has an appropriate space (Art Workshop) in the Royal Dutch Shell Wing. This wing also houses an auditorium, in which it offers a ‘Lifelong Learning Programme’. The Mauritshuis also offers a free ‘App’ for download on visitors’ own devices, which offer information about all the paintings on display. The Mauritshuis provides programming for the permanent collection as well as special events organised around its temporary exhibitions.
